The Opportunity - Purpose:
As the Business Banking Risk Manager, you will be responsible for providing both operational and strategic support to the Business Banking department. In this role, you will ensure the effective execution of business banking initiatives to enhance the customer journey, while driving compliance, growth, operational efficiency, and resilience throughout the department. This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact by shaping risk management practices and strengthening operational processes within Business Banking.
This role can be based in our Bristol, London, or Edinburgh office. Typically, you will be required to work from the office two days per week, with the option to work remotely on the other days.
Key responsibilities will require you to:
Act as the subject matter expert for first line risk management in Business Banking, ensuring regulatory compliance and advancing risk maturity.
Oversee and provide quality assurance for business banking risk management processes, including credit risk tools, sector risk analyses, and attestations.
Support, direct, and deliver Business Banking projects and initiatives, working closely with stakeholders to drive improvements in customer outcomes and operational efficiency.
Monitor and manage key management information (MI), including Vulnerable Customer data, Skills Matrix, and Operational Risk MI, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
Coordinate and engage with training, competency, and development activities to satisfy regulatory requirements and support colleague capability.
Represent Business Banking at risk and governance forums, acting as a key contact for the First Line Risk & Resilience team and other relevant committees.
Maintain and review Business Banking policies, support audit and compliance actions, and provide input and challenge to wider policy development.
Collaborate with financial crime, client due diligence, and risk colleagues to ensure robust frameworks and clear roles in managing financial crime risk.
What We Are looking for:
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable individual with a strong background in risk management within the financial services sector, ideally with strong experience in business banking. You will have a solid understanding of business banking operations, coupled with the ability to navigate and interpret regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator and collaborator, able to influence stakeholders and drive projects forward in a dynamic environment.
Skills and experience required:
Experience in a first line risk-related role within financial services (preferable)
Strong understanding of business banking operations, processes, products, and services
Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance, particularly the PRA rule book (desirable)
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and drive operational efficiency
Experience implementing projects in a financial services environment (desirable)

In return for your hard work and expertise, you will receive a competitive full time equivalent salary of between 48,000 and 64,000 depending on experience, plus access to our extensive benefits package, where most of our benefits are non-contributory.
