Role Overview
The Business Development and Marketing Manager is responsible for driving business growth through the development, marketing, and delivery of bespoke international education services. This includes educational study tours, academic enrichment programmes, and summer camps for international students, as well as Oxbridge application support and UK boarding school placement services.
The role focuses on market expansion in China and Southeast Asia and requires strong business development, marketing, and client-facing skills. The post-holder will work closely with senior management and internal delivery teams to ensure that all programmes meet high academic standards, operate efficiently, and provide an outstanding experience for students, parents, and institutional partners.
The position involves frequent international business travel, primarily to China and Southeast Asian countries, to support market development, partner engagement, recruitment activities, and programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Market Development
Develop and implement business development and sales strategies for China and Southeast Asia.
Contribute to the achievement of annual revenue and growth targets.
Work with senior management to define service offerings, pricing structures, and market positioning.
Monitor international education market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments.
Identify new client segments and partnership opportunities to expand market reach.
Client Consultation & Account Management
Engage with schools, education groups, agents, and institutional partners to understand their objectives, requirements, and budgets.
Design appropriate programme solutions and advisory services tailored to client needs.
Manage key accounts to ensure high levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
Conduct follow-up evaluations to assess client feedback on programme content, service quality, pricing, and overall value.
Provide ongoing communication and support throughout the programme and recruitment lifecycle.
Programme Design & Proposal Development
Lead the development of bespoke educational study tours, academic enrichment programmes, and summer camps.
Support the promotion and positioning of Oxbridge application services and UK boarding school placement programmes.
Prepare structured programme frameworks, itineraries, learning objectives, timelines, and delivery plans.
Develop comprehensive proposals covering academic content, budgets, and operational logistics.
Refine proposals based on client feedback to secure bookings and meet revenue targets.
Market Research & Data Analysis
Gather and analyse market intelligence to support business development and product innovation.
Analyse sales performance, client demographics, and programme outcomes.
Prepare reports and strategic recommendations for senior management.
Evaluate competitor offerings, pricing models, and emerging trends in China and Southeast Asia.
Programme Planning & Operational Coordination
Coordinate programme delivery across teaching, excursions, accommodation, transportation, catering, and venue bookings.
Manage internal teams and external partners, including universities, tutors, guides, and suppliers.
Ensure programmes are delivered in line with agreed quality standards, compliance requirements, and timelines.
Partner, Venue & Supplier Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with universities, colleges, schools, agents, and partner organisations.
Confirm logistical, technical, safeguarding, and service requirements with venues and suppliers.
Negotiate commercial terms to support service quality and financial performance.
Recruitment, Training & Team Leadership
Recruit, train, and supervise junior staff, tutors, and programme leaders as required.
Monitor staff performance, provide feedback, and ensure alignment with programme objectives.
Promote collaborative working practices and high standards of professionalism and client service.
On-Site Programme Delivery
Oversee day-to-day operations during study tours, summer camps, and recruitment activities in the UK and overseas.
Resolve operational issues and coordinate real-time solutions to ensure smooth programme delivery.
Maintain high standards of student welfare, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Quality Assurance, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure all programmes and recruitment activities comply with Health & Safety, safeguarding, and statutory requirements.
Conduct risk assessments and implement emergency and contingency procedures.
Monitor service quality and implement continuous improvement measures.
Requirements:
Essential
Master's degree or above in education, business, international relations, marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of
5 years' professional experience in the education industry
, preferably within international education or education consultancy.
Solid understanding of
China and Southeast Asia education markets
, including schools, agents, and institutional partners.
High-level proficiency in
English and Mandarin Chinese
, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proven management experience in one or more of the following areas: marketing, programme design, or student recruitment.
Willingness and ability to undertake
frequent international business travel
, particularly to China and Southeast Asia.
Demonstrated ability to independently develop new markets, including identifying opportunities, establishing partnerships, and driving growth from an early stage.
Strong track record in business development, market expansion, and revenue generation.
Experience in promoting and delivering international education services, such as study tours, academic programmes, summer schools, Oxbridge application support, or UK boarding school placement.
Strong leadership, organisational, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage teams and multiple priorities.
