With a growing R&D presence in Edinburgh, and global reach through peer companies within ARKA, Lumacron is seeking a Business Development Director to manage and develop the worldwide customer base.


Position Overview (Summary/Objective):





The Business Development Director is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives, identifying new business opportunities, and cultivating strong relationships with key clients and partners. This individual plays a critical role in driving revenue, expanding market presence, and contributing to the long-term success of the organization. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and hands-on leader with a proven track record in sales, market development, and team leadership.

Responsibilities:




Develop and execute the company's business development strategy in alignment with overall corporate objectives Identify, assess, and pursue new market opportunities, partnerships, and strategic alliances Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, stakeholders, and industry influencers Lead the end-to-end sales cycle for high-value opportunities, including proposal development, negotiations, and closing Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, product, finance, and operations to ensure seamless execution of business development initiatives Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation Develop business cases and financial models to support new initiatives and expansion plans Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand visibility and thought leadership Manage and mentor the extended business development team, fostering a high-performance, results-driven culture Report regularly to senior leadership on pipeline activity, revenue forecasts, and key metrics

Basic Qualifications:




Qualified to degree level in an engineering or business centric discipline 10-15 years of relevant industry experience with a minimum of 7 years in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships, preferably in the electronics industry Ability to comply with the UK GOV National Security Vetting Procedures (see link below) https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/united-kingdom-security-vetting

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:




Demonstrated success in building and scaling business development functions Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Experience with CRM systems and sales enablement tools Specific experience of Telecommunication/Data Communication hardware products Knowledge of Telecoms Framing and Packet structures (OTN, SONET/SDH, PDH, Ethernet) Strategic planning and execution Relationship management and networking Financial acumen and deal structuring Market research and competitive analysis Team leadership and cross-functional collaboration Results orientation and resilience

Location: Edinburgh, UK





Based out of Lumacron's Edinburgh Park facility in Edinburgh, Scotland. The picturesque business area on the western outskirts of the beautiful city of Edinburgh, boasts access to many facilities including a bakery, restaurant, gyms, Padel court and the nearby shopping centre. There are great transport links being close to 3 train stations, the airport and on the newly extended tram line making it easy to get into the city to explore the vibrant hospitality and history-soaked streets and attractions of Edinburgh.
