The Business Development Engineer will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing business opportunities within the engineering and design sectors. The role requires a blend of technical understanding and business acumen to help expand APSTECHS's market presence and client base. The role focuses on expanding APSTECHS' client base in the power, renewable energy, and infrastructure sectors, particularly in Substation design, BESS, Solar, and electrical equipment's sizing solutions, etc.

Requirements

Proven experience in business development, tendering, or technical sales within the Electrical Engineering or Energy sector.
Understanding of UK DNO and EPC project frameworks, including tender procedures and compliance requirements.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOQs, and specifications to prepare commercial offers.
Strong understanding of electrical systems -- particularly HV/LV substations, switchgear, transformers, and related products.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Competence in Microsoft Office, CRM tools, and document control systems.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to meet targets and deadlines.
Experience coordinating with clients, OEMs, and international partners.
Knowledge of UK grid standards (SSEN, UKPN, SPEN, National Grid) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include the following:
Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the UK and international markets.
Manage pre-qualification, tendering, and bidding processes for EPC and substation projects.
Coordinate with the design and procurement teams to prepare accurate technical and commercial proposals.
Support pricing and negotiation strategies to secure profitable business contracts.
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, partners, and suppliers.
Track project enquiries, pipeline opportunities, and prepare regular sales reports.
Represent APSTECHS at industry exhibitions, client meetings, and networking events.
Support development of marketing material, case studies, and company presentations.
Contribute to business strategy discussions, market analysis, and revenue forecasts.
Any other duties assigned by management in line with business needs.
Training Location within organisation

HNC/HND in engineering or an associated subject.
Ideally an engineering relevant degree, to masters level or higher, with chartered status.
Must have at least 2-4 years of experience in the relevant field.
Experience in substation or BESS project sales
Strong understanding of electrical engineering concepts
Experience in developing pricing models and proposal templates
Proven experience in technical sales or tendering
Existing client network within the UK DNO or EPC sector
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of export procedures and documentation
Proficient in MS Office and CRM systems.
Possess a clean current driving licence
