Founded over 30 years ago, The Rooflight Co is a successful, employee-owned Cotswolds business with approximately 40 employees, designing and manufacturing rooflights and roof windows for the UK construction / specification market.

The Business Development Executive will drive growth for The Rooflight Co by engaging high-value heritage, commercial, and premium domestic projects. Working closely with the Planning Intelligence team, you will convert qualified leads into secured orders and build lasting relationships with architects, developers, trusts, and homeowners to position The Rooflight Co as the partner of choice.

You will provide expert guidance on The Rooflight Co's heritage rooflight range, delivering tailored solutions that meet client needs while maintaining our prestige positioning. The role blends strategic relationship management, consultative sales, and project influence to ensure The Rooflight Co is first to engage and win high-profile projects.

Proactive and commercially minded, you will excel at managing complex stakeholder networks and maintain a strong understanding of market trends, planning activity, and competitor movements to drive sustained growth across heritage and premium domestic sectors.

The Role and Accountabilities...

Opportunity Engagement & Conversion:



Proactively engage high-value heritage, commercial, and premium domestic leads from the Planning Intelligence team. Build relationships with architects, developers, trusts, and homeowners to influence specifications and win projects. Provide expert advice on The Rooflight Co products, preparing tailored proposals and presentations.

Sales Performance & Pipeline Management:



Convert qualified leads into confirmed projects, achieving or exceeding sales targets. Accurately record all interactions and project updates in the CRM. Provide feedback on client needs, market trends, and competitor activity to inform strategy.

Market & Stakeholder Development:



Maintain knowledge of heritage and premium domestic markets, planning trends, and key decision-makers. Develop networks to position The Rooflight Co as the partner of choice for prestigious projects.

Client Relationship & Reporting:



Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business. Report regularly on project pipelines, engagement progress, and market insights to the Sales Manager.
Qualifications and Experience...

Essential:



Proven experience in a business development, consultative sales, or client-facing role, ideally involving complex or high-value projects. Ability to proactively generate and manage your own pipeline of leads, taking initiative to identify and pursue opportunities. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage architects, developers, trusts, and homeowners. Strong commercial awareness and consultative approach, able to influence project specifications and demonstrate technical knowledge of products. Self-motivated, target-driven, and highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously. Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through, ensuring all opportunities are accurately documented and progressed in the CRM.

Desirable:



Experience within the construction, architecture, or heritage glazing sectors. Familiarity with CRM systems, lead management processes, and project reporting. Formal sales training or qualifications in consultative selling techniques.

Salary: 29,000-32,000 per annum + performance related bonus (OTE 10,000)
