We are seeking a Business Development Executive to join our growing Marketing and Business Development Department.

The role will be working closely with one of our Business Services Division BD Managers as they develop and implement the strategy for a number of our core practices and sectors including Employment, Immigration, Education and Sports and Entertainment as well as a key client of the firm.

The successful candidate will support these teams on a variety of business development and marketing activities and become part of a friendly, collaborative team who are passionate about developing our brand and market recognition.

This role would be suited to someone who has at least 12 months of experience either in the legal sector or professional services and who is keen to seek out opportunities to stretch their skills and experience.

Responsibilities

The Business Development Executive will be expected to build a good understanding of the work and marketplaces of the various teams and to play a critical role in helping those teams deliver their BD and Marketing strategies. These strategies, and hence the focus for the BD Executive role, include but are not limited to profile building, client retention and development, new client targeting, sector and international development.

The BD Executive\xe2\x80\x99s key responsibilities include:

Client, practice and sector development

  • Helping the Business Development Manager on practice and sector plans.
  • Keeping abreast of industry and market developments.
  • Researching prospective clients and new markets.
  • Using the CRM system to maintain/update and report on the practice/sector teams\xe2\x80\x99 sales pipelines.
  • Analysing and reporting on client satisfaction surveys.
  • Attending, taking notes and progressing actions from team meetings and away days.
  • Managing legal directory and award submissions. This will involve producing content, ensuring deadlines are met, uploading submissions to portals, organising interviews with the legal directory researchers, and preparing briefing notes for the partners.
Marketing and events
  • Working closely with the Business Development Manager, Marketing and Communications and the Events team to raise the profile of the firm through various channels including thought leadership, client newsletters, articles, podcasts, webinars, seminars, conferences and other industry events.
  • Acting as a brand ambassador to produce client materials including team sheets, fact sheets, pitch documents and promotional flyers.
  • Using marketing software to manage and deliver appropriate e-marketing campaigns, GDPR compliance, etc. and reporting on readership statistics.
  • Maintaining an ongoing list of industry events, publicising these events to fee-earners and partners within the teams and responding to queries about these events.
  • Monitoring marketing effectiveness \xe2\x80\x93 to include tracking the attendance of fee-earners at networking events; researching/identifying appropriate events, requesting feedback from fee-earners and tracking follow up actions from the events.
  • Advising on best practice and assisting with social media as a channel to promote individuals and teams.
Website and intranet
  • Development and maintenance of the relevant intranet pages
  • Ensuring the relevant communications managers are provided with appropriate and timely content for the website and intranet including news items, articles, events, case studies, publications and people profiles as they relate to individual teams.
Other
  • Assisting within the marketing and business development department on any other duties, including central firmwide projects as reasonably required.
  • Taking responsibility for self-development and training.

Essential & Desirable Criteria
  • Highly proficient communication skills and in particular - strong writing and editing skills.
  • Minimum of 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of broad-ranging marketing roles in service-orientated organisations (ideally professional services).
  • Experience of researching, coordinating and where necessary submitting electronically (on-line procurement) tenders and credentials documents.
  • Professional, positive and proactive self-starter.
  • Highly motivated - must have the ability to work alone and on own initiative but within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Effective time and project management skills, able to prioritise effectively and work well under pressure.
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Flexible approach and reliable.
  • Ability to travel to our other UK offices as and when required.
