We are currently seeking a
Business Development Manager
to join our Trade Sales team, focusing on
builders merchants
across the
South of England
.
Job Summary:
In this field-based role, you'll be responsible for managing and growing our merchant channel presence throughout the South of England. You'll build strong relationships with both independent and national/regional merchant branches, increase product visibility, and drive sales performance through branch-level support and strategic account management.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and manage relationships with builders merchant branches (independent and national/regional groups)
Serve as the main point of contact for merchant sales teams within your territory
Collaborate with group procurement teams and regional management to drive sales growth
Deliver product training, insights, and sales tools to improve performance
Support national and regional promotional campaigns at the branch level
Visit merchant branches regularly to maintain visibility and engagement
Analyse sales performance and report results to the Channel Manager
Attend trade events and represent Luceco within the industry
Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and product availability
What We're Looking For:
Proven experience in a field-based sales role (ideally within builders merchants, construction, or trade-related industries)
Strong knowledge of the merchant sales channel and how to engage with both branch and head office teams
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Able to manage a large geographic territory independently
Commercially focused with strong data analysis skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills & Experience:
Existing relationships with UK merchant groups (e.g., Travis Perkins, Jewson, Selco, Huws Gray)
Experience with electrical, lighting, or building product manufacturers
Familiarity with CRM systems and digital reporting tools
