Business Development Manager

Belfast, NIR, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

OTE - 40,000+

The Opportunity

This isn't a faceless corporate role. We're looking for someone ambitious who wants to work directly alongside our owners to grow a local education business that's already changing lives across the UK and Ireland.

Uni Learning provides internationally accredited health and fitness qualifications -- Personal Training, Sports Massage, Nutrition, and Strength & Conditioning and much more. Our students go on to build rewarding careers helping others transform their health and fitness.

We're at an exciting stage of growth. What we need is someone who can own the day-to-day -- sales, student relationships, partner development -- while the founder focuses on strategic growth. For the right person, this is a genuine pathway to a leadership position as we expand.

Please note: We are not in a rush to hire, we will wait for the right candidate for our team. If that's you, then we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Sales & Lead Conversion

You'll be the primary point of contact for prospective students. This means handling inbound enquiries, following up on leads, making outbound calls to nurture prospects, and ultimately converting them into enrolled students. We want someone who can think on their feet and genuinely connect with people considering a career change.

Student Support & Success

Our students' success is our success. You'll support students throughout their learning journey -- answering questions, troubleshooting issues, keeping them motivated and on track. Happy students become our best ambassadors, so this role directly impacts growth.

Business Development & Partnerships

Beyond sales calls, you'll actively build the business. This includes visiting graduates and partners in person, collecting testimonials and case studies, generating referrals, and identifying new partnership opportunities. You'll represent Uni Learning at industry events and with gym owners, employers, and other stakeholders.

Operations & Administration

You'll handle the admin that keeps the business running smoothly -- enrolment processing, CRM management, scheduling, and coordination with our accreditation bodies. You'll become the expert in running our systems day-to-day.

Who You Are

Essential

Sales experience:

You've sold before and you're comfortable with targets. You understand that sales is about solving problems, not pushing products.

Passion for health and fitness:

You genuinely care about this industry. Maybe you train yourself, have worked in a gym, or simply believe in the transformative power of health and fitness. You need to authentically connect with people considering a new career or starting their own business in the health and fitness industry.

Communication skills:

Clear, warm, professional -- whether on the phone, over email, or in person.

Self-motivation:

You don't need constant supervision. You can manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, and stay productive if working remotely.

Driver's licence and own transport:

You'll need to travel when required across Northern Ireland. Our HQ is in Belfast with additional locations in Omagh and Derry/Londonderry. After initial training we will operate a hybrid working model.

Desirable

Health and fitness qualifications:

Personal Training, Sports Massage, or similar. You'll understand our students' journey firsthand.

Management or leadership experience:

Even informal experience leading teams or projects. As we grow, there may be opportunities to build and lead a team.

CRM experience:

Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation platforms.

What We Offer

Salary:

28,000-35,000 depending on experience. OTE 40,000+

Performance incentives:

Commission or bonus structure tied to enrolments and business growth

Free qualifications:

Full access to our course portfolio -- gain industry-recognised certifications while you work

Training and development:

Comprehensive onboarding plus ongoing professional development

Hybrid working:

Flexibility to work from home once fully trained, with regular in-person time at our locations

Growth opportunity:

Direct line to leadership with genuine progression as the business scales

Location & Working Arrangements

This role is based in Northern Ireland with primary locations in Belfast in Omagh. You'll need to travel between these locations as required, and occasionally visit students and partners elsewhere in Northern Ireland and potentially the Republic of Ireland.

After completing your initial training period, hybrid working arrangements are available -- but this isn't a fully remote role. Regular face-to-face presence is important for building relationships with students and partners.

Finally

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for this role. Someone we believe aligns with our values and vision for the business. We aren't seeking a short term hire. We want someone to grow with the business.
