Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to drive our growth strategy in the heat exchange market. As a key external salesperson, you will be the critical link to our customers, responsible for the entire sales lifecycle. Your role will involve everything from proactive lead generation and customer visits to identifying new market opportunities, preparing technical costings and quotes, negotiating contracts, and converting enquiries into orders, all while ensuring we exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Drive sales growth to meet the company's strategic and profit goals.
Actively seek new business opportunities from diverse sectors (e.g., Industrial, Pharma, Power Generation, Oil & Gas).
Manage the full customer relationship, from initial contact and site visits to long-term account management.
Identify key decision-makers within prospective and existing accounts, investigating their needs and providing creative solutions.
Lead the quoting and tendering process, including cost estimation (labour and materials) and coordinating technical designs.
Support contract negotiations and bid submissions in collaboration with internal technical and commercial teams.
Respond to all customer enquiries in a timely manner, proposing effective product and service solutions.
Work closely with operations and management to ensure excellent service delivery and share customer feedback for continuous improvement.
Research and report on market intelligence, maintain sales databases, and actively contribute to sales and development meetings.
Champion and adhere to all Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) procedures, reporting all hazards and incidents to ensure a safe work environment.
Your Skills & Experience
A strong technical background with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
Demonstrable sales experience, preferably within industrial sectors (e.g., General Industrial, Rail, Marine, Power Generation).
Proven experience in proactive account management coupled with strong commercial acumen.
Preferred (though not essential) experience in heat exchanger design, manufacture, servicing, and repair processes.
The ability to conduct on-site assessments, use measuring equipment, and create technical sketches.
A confident and self-motivated individual who can work under minimal supervision and manage pressure.
Excellent organisation and time management skills, with a proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines.
Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills to build networks and manage objections.
A dynamic, enthusiastic, and results-orientated "can-do" attitude.
* Must be computer literate (MS Office), hold a full UK driving licence, have the permanent right to work in the UK, and be willing to travel.
