Job Context/Purpose
We are seeking an ambitious and proactive Business Development Manager to join our International Sales team. This is a pivotal role focused on driving new business growth and expanding SA Equip's global market share, particularly within the oil & gas and industrial markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying opportunities, building and nurturing relationships, and achieving sales growth by promoting SA Equip's specialist product range. This role requires a confident self-starter with strong commercial acumen, technical curiosity, and the ability to operate effectively in international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to achieve sales targets and expand market share in target sectors.
Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities globally -- with a focus on oil & gas, energy, and heavy industrial applications.
Generate and manage your own sales pipeline, from prospecting through to closing.
Prepare and deliver high-impact sales presentations, proposals, and quotations tailored to customer needs.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners.
Provide technical guidance and product knowledge to clients, working closely with internal engineering and product teams.
Attend industry events, exhibitions, and conferences to represent SA Equip and build brand visibility.
Research and analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.
Contribute to marketing strategy and new product development by sharing insights from the field.
Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and product teams to ensure seamless customer experience.
Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates to management.
Job Requirements
Proven track record in B2B sales and business development, ideally within the oil & gas, industrial, or engineering sectors.
Demonstrated ability to generate own leads, build relationships, and close complex sales.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Strong commercial awareness and customer-focused mindset.
Comfortable with global travel and working across different cultures and markets.
Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
Nice to have
Technical understanding of portable equipment or solutions for hazardous areas (e.g. lighting, power distribution, heating, ventilation).
Experience selling into distributors, contractors, or EPCs.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g. ATEX, IECEx).
Multilingual skills (advantageous but not essential).
