Main Purpose of Role

Selling SGS services related to food testing to generate new customers and new profitable revenues in line with the UK Responsible Sales & Marketing Policy.

SGS services include supporting customers compliance with the relevant regulatory and legislative standards and brand protection for food retailers, processors, and food services across the following sectors: Microbiology Testing, Nutritional Chemistry, Allergen Testing, Contaminants Testing, Investigative DNA Platform Services, Molecular platforms Services, Advisory Services, Retail Surveillance/Due Diligence.

Key Accountabilities:
  • To identify, contact and develop new customers who have never previously traded with SGS
  • To identify new opportunities within existing customers and re-engage lapsed customers
  • To present SGS products and services to potential new, existing, and lapsed customers
  • To create compelling business cases to encourage customers to place work with SGS
  • To generate new business revenues for SGS to meet budgetary and strategic goals
  • To maintain and develop personal knowledge and industry expertise
  • To stay ahead of market trends, utilizing professional membership and trade associations
  • To identify and react to new and developing market, competitor, and regulatory developments to ensure SGS takes advantage of all market opportunities
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues promoting SGS services, across businesses and service
  • To work with SGS CRM systems, updating contacts, activities, opportunities, and successes within required timescales, in accordance with the UK Responsible Sales & Marketing Policy.
  • Ensure full compliance with the Company\'s Code of Integrity, and act in accordance with SGS UK\'s Equality & Diversity Policy and ensure others do so.
Qualifications

How to be a successful candidate

Essential
  • In depth understanding of the market or a similar transferrable market sector
  • Strong sales focus with a drive to succeed identifying and securing new business
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to develop positive working relationships at all levels
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, listening and presentation
  • Able to present a high degree of professionalism at internal and external meetings
  • Able to work in a consultative way in a service lead environment
  • Agile thinking, able to handle a broad range of topics and understand diverse customer needs
  • Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy
  • Significant experience in a highly technical B2B environment
  • Experience working in an environment aligned to the technical aspects of this role
  • Experience working successfully within a performance measured CRM based sales environment
Desirable
  • Experience with budgeting and sales forecasting
  • Proven track record of delivering Customer Service Excellence
Qualifications
  • Sales qualification, or time served to demonstrate experience
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific, technical, engineering discipline
  • Project Management qualification such as Prince2, Six Sigma, CAPM, PMP
  • Customer Service qualification such as NVQ, Practitioner, Institute of Customer Service
