We are looking for a Business Development Manager to jointhe team and get involved with:

Tender & Proposal Development



Evaluate calls for tender from existing frameworks and communicate to relevant teams within FairHeat. Write, coordinate, and manage bid responses for HNES, heat network frameworks, innovation grants, and other public-sector tenders. Ensure all submissions are of high quality, persuasive, compliant, and tailored to client needs. Collaborate closely with technical and commercial leads to align messaging.

Business Development & Client Engagement



Identify and proactively engage clients across public and private sectors, including local authorities, housing associations, and developers. Represent FairHeat and/or ensure there is representation from FairHeat at industry conferences, forums, and networking events. Build and nurture strategic partnerships to support long-term growth in the decarbonisation of heat.

Frameworks



Assess new framework opportunities to ensure we are well-positioned in the market. Support applications for new frameworks. Support with ongoing administration & compliance of existing frameworks.

Funding Strategy & Opportunity Scouting



Lead the identification and tracking of new frameworks, funding schemes, and innovation opportunities (e.g. HNES, Warmer Homes Fund, etc). Understand the evolving needs of our clients -- both public and private -- and match them with relevant funding options. Maintain knowledge of UK policy and funding landscape, including anticipated regulation changes (e.g. HNTAS).

Funding & Innovation Project Support



Project-manage the development of funding applications in collaboration with internal teams. Draft supporting content, narratives, budgets, and milestone plans for successful submissions. Coordinate reporting requirements for live projects receiving public funds.

Marketing Collaboration



Work closely with the marketing team on thought leadership content (case studies, blog posts, webinars). Support content development for our audiences. Participate in external communication activities that raise the company's visibility in the sector.

Pipeline Management & Reporting



Maintain accurate CRM records of leads, tenders, and submissions. Track progress against KPIs related to tender success rate, funding applications, and client engagement.

Requirements



2+ years in business development, tender writing, or strategic partnerships within the sustainability, energy, or public/private sector consulting space. Proven track record of securing public-sector tenders or funding. Experience supporting or leading applications to programmes such as HNES, Innovate UK, or BEIS/DESNZ grants. Excellent writing and communication skills, particularly for technical bids and funding narratives. Confident public speaker and relationship builder. Strong organisational and project management abilities. Skilled at researching and interpreting funding schemes and framework opportunities. Able to align opportunities with client priorities and technical capabilities. Familiarity with heat network technologies, low-carbon heating solutions, and UK energy policy is highly desirable. Proficiency in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and data analysis for pipeline forecasting.
