This position is based at London Stratford Place and requires a minimum of 3 days in the office or out on site per week, and will require travel to meet various 3rd parties across the whole of Anglia Route. This is a permanent opportunity.
Brief Description
To identify and capture third party enhancement funding in line with business objectives, including development of funding mechanisms and / or arrangements, where required. To develop customer and market intelligence, identifying business development opportunities, exploring and securing new external funding streams. You will play a critical role in the standup of the new integrated Anglia Railway on its journey towards GBR by securing increased external investment to meet one of our key ambitions of reducing net subsidy, whilst acting as a key interface back into NR Eastern Region to ensure alignment of strategic priorities and investment decisions.
About the role (External)
Key Accountabilities
Secure third party enhancement funding to meet all investment targets as agreed by the Principal Programme Sponsor, Route Strategy Director, and regional Finance and Business Development colleagues.
Identify and develop strong relationships with clients and sector players from across the entire Anglia Railway geography to achieve mutually beneficial relationships that enable effective project delivery.
Develop strategy for the Business Development arm of the new Anglia Railway that will allow the business to generate third party funding from wider markets.
Provide excellent market intelligence in appropriate business sectors.
Undertake analysis and identification of future opportunities (market analysis) to develop Network Rail's proposition to potential investors.
To work with and advise the Principal Programme Sponsor and Route Strategy Director as appropriate on any strategy or decision making relating to business proposals.
Identify and engage with potential funders to generate external funding and influence their approach.
Identify and develop strategic relationships with sector players that may facilitate future collaborative ventures between both parties.
Work closely with project sponsors and delivery teams to develop funding strategies and arrangements for individual projects.
Provide a key link with regional Business Development and Strategic Planning colleagues to ensure alignment on route, regional and national funding priorities and Business Case development.
Maintain processes, systems and quality standards for the management of market intelligence and market analysis.
Work closely with GA and c2c colleagues in leveraging existing stakeholder relationships, partnerships and knowledge across the whole of the route to generate novel investment opportunities in the new Anglia Railway integrated business unit.
Essential
Qualified to degree level or equivalent
First class customer relationship management at senior level
Excellent influencing skills
Proven senior management & leadership experience
Successful experience in securing funding or new business
Ability to develop business cases, including understanding of transport appraisal
Desirable
Previous experience of marketing or brand development & management
Experience in the design and delivery of new rail freight services and / or facilities
Knowledge of Project Management techniques
Knowledge of the rail industry and / or regional and local government, including knowledge of funding streams available
