Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the achievement of annual sales commitments within assigned territory including focusing on the Birmingham & Solihull, Black Country, Hereford & Worcestershire, Coventry & Warwickshire and Stoke & Staffordshire areas.



The incumbent also leads Ascensia's efforts to partner with key NHS accounts (i.e. ICS's, ICB's, PCN's), creating effective partnership opportunities across all stakeholders within the allocated accounts to secure market access/formulary inclusion and drive usage and recommendation of the Contour blood glucose meters to achieve annual sales, market share and profitability objectives.



What you will be doing:



Achieve annual sales commitments for their territory, including meter placement, strip market share and strip sales volume, by promoting the Contour blood glucose meter portfolio within primary and secondary care centers.

Lead in-territory efforts to partner with targeted NHS accounts (i.e. ICBs Health Boards, Trusts) and develop strong local professional relationships with all stakeholders including Key Opinion Leaders in the blood glucose meter recommendation process.

Leverage formulary situation to drive usage and recommendation of the Ascensia brands in the allocated accounts, establish an effective account coverage plan and execute it. Create a meter placement plan for the allocated accounts, track and manage usage in line with this plan. Direct appropriate resources into the accounts, regularly monitor progress and evolve action plans as appropriate to support achievement of targets per account.

Drive tender/formulary requests and coordinates implementation for successful formulary listing, in selected "open" and other areas in order to support brand and business growth.

Execute against all marketing initiatives using only centrally approved materials, claims and messaging to support the usage and recommendation of the Ascensia brands.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Ascensia products, disease state and changes in health care to exceed customer expectations and compete in the marketplace. Maintain high level of up to date relevant competitor knowledge to enable effective product differentiation.

Plan and attend local events, meetings or sales presentations to targeted HCP customers within territory to drive brand recommendation and business support.

Represent Ascensia in a professional manner and comply with all appropriate codes of conduct, industry regulations and internal SOPs.



What you need for success:



University degree or equivalent qualification, preferably in science, nursing, marketing, or business.

Understanding of the sales process within the healthcare industry (e.g. Diabetes, Medical Devices, Pharmaceuticals, Diagnostics).

Demonstrated experience as a successful account manager or in a comparable sales role, including engagement with key PCO / ICB stakeholders.

Current knowledge of relevant industry standards and guidelines is preferred.

Strong business planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively use IT tools such as CRM or Electronic Territory Management Systems.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive partnerships.

Strong negotiation and sales capabilities.

Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and adaptable to change.

Strong analytical and verbal reasoning abilities.

Proven ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.

Willingness to travel within the UK, including occasional overnight stays.

Full, valid driving licence required.
