Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for driving growth within TRIGO UK's Rail and Aerospace sectors, with a particular focus on
maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO)
and
rolling stock/aircraft support activities
. This role combines strategic planning, customer relationship management, and hands-on business development to support TRIGO's expanding footprint in complex, safety-critical industries.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Growth
Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across Rail and Aerospace, with an emphasis on
MRO, maintenance depots, repair centres, and operational support environments
.
Develop sector-specific growth plans and account penetration strategies aligned with TRIGO's UK and global objectives.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads, delivering accurate forecasting and performance reporting.
Lead proposal development, pricing strategies, tender submissions, and customer presentations.
Client Relationship Management
Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders including OEMs, operators, MRO facilities, Tier 1 suppliers, and engineering service providers.
Understand customer operational challenges and collaborate with TRIGO's engineering, quality, and operations teams to propose tailored service solutions.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on quality assurance, inspection, supplier development, and technical support services.
Market & Sector Insight
Monitor industry trends and competitors across rail (e.g., rolling stock, infrastructure, fleet maintenance) and aerospace (e.g., component repair, line/base maintenance, supply chain quality).
Identify opportunities for TRIGO to introduce additional services such as technical staffing, inspection, NDT, quality containment, engineering support, or digital solutions.
Collaboration & Internal Coordination
Work closely with TRIGO's operational leaders to ensure seamless delivery of new projects and transitions from sales to execution.
Support marketing initiatives and represent TRIGO at trade events, conferences, and industry forums.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the commercial function.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
Proven experience in
Business Development, Account Management, or Commercial roles
within the
Rail or Aerospace sectors
.
Strong understanding of
MRO operations
, maintenance environments, repair processes, and quality/safety requirements in regulated industries.
Demonstrated ability to win and grow business with OEMs, operators, or Tier 1 suppliers.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to manage a full sales cycle from lead generation through to commercial closure.
Desirable
Experience selling technical, engineering, quality, or inspection services.
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., RISAS/RISQS for rail, Part 145/Part 21 for aerospace).
Strong network within UK Rail depots, ROSCOs, TOCs, aerospace MROs, or supply chain quality organisations.
