SIG Plc. is a leading supplier of specialist building materials to trade customers across Europe with strong positions in its core markets as a specialist distributor of insulation and interiors products and as a merchant of roofing and exteriors products.

We are currently looking to recruit a Business Development Manager - South UK, to become part of the team at SR Timber - a trading division within SIG Exteriors, this part of the business specialise in the supply of roofing products. SR Timber is the UK\'s leading importer of produced graded roofing battens, also suppling roofing timber ancillary dimensions, graded structural carcassing timber - C24, Cedar shingles and sheet materials such as OSB. We deliver into national and independent Roofing, Building and Timber Merchant merchants throughout the UK. The business has excellent sole partnership with a sawmill in Latvia , as well as strong relations with other distributors within the UK. This role will be remote with the candidate based in the South of England, as this will be the region covered. Visits to the offices in Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire will be required monthly - for team meetings and training programs.

What does the role involve?
As Business Development Manager, you will be expected to increase sales within the Roofing Merchant sector, also offering all product lines and developing business in the building and Timber Merchant sector. You will take the lead in engaging and developing sales in the region, identifying, developing and managing relationships at all levels, to make S R Timber products the chosen choice.

The successful candidate will require:

  • Experience within the construction industry, ideally the Roofing Merchant Sector - with a proven track record in delivering results and financial targets.
  • Experience in trading of graded roofing batten and timber products advantageous , however, not essential as training will be offered.
  • Self-motivated, strong decision-making ability and successful sales experience, with in depth knowledge and an understanding of and effective sales function and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a commercial and financial understanding.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, influencing and negotiating skills
  • IT Skills necessary - MS Excel, Word.
