Business Development Manager - Precision Components
Wall Colmonoy (WCL) is a materials engineering organisation holding a wide range of manufacturing capabilities to meet industry and customer requirements. This role is based within the Precision Components division which serves customers with the supply of engineered solutions. These solutions can be provided via casting, machining, brazing, heat treatment, coatings and additive manufacture.
This new position for a Business Development Manager (BDM) has been created as part of the company's growth strategy to focus on developing international sales and new business opportunities within new and existing markets.

Skills and Abilities:
Proven track record of identifying market trends and opportunities to generate profitable business growth within manufacturing engineering field.
Demonstrate a structured approach to business development in a professional and consistent manner.
Working knowledge and experience of Casting, Machining or Additive Manufacturing processes.
Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and determine potential manufacturing routes.
Outstanding business and commercial acumen including proactive selling, business development and negotiation skills, pricing for profitability, cash focused, preparation, review and programme management skills.
Must be a strong cultural fit with the WCL's values, able to work effectively both independently and as part of the team.
Ability to communicate effectively externally with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests and work well under pressure.
Command a can-do attitude when considering new and challenging components that stretch current capabilities.
Technology focused with demonstrable working knowledge of using both CRM and ERP systems.
Ability to generate close relationships with customers both remotely and in person.
Responsibilities:
Promote positive culture towards Health, Safety and Environment and Quality within the department when on site or travelling.
Maintain existing portfolio of core customers working closely with Sales Managers & Customer Service Team as direct reports into BDM.
Seek new business opportunities and manage the existing pipeline to mature sales into profitable sales.
Generate and follow-up on leads within the business CRM.
Log customer interactions, new opportunities within the business CRM to support both the management of customers and business growth.
Carry out data analysis on KPIs linked to the BDM role and formulate/communicate appropriately in presentation / report format to update key stakeholders.
High-level programme management of business development activities and working with Product Integration Engineers so ensure aligned to customer expectations.
Develop and build strong working relationships with Customer Service, Production and Commercial teams to enable successful developments.
Support the Marketing Team with the creation of materials and attendance at industrial tradeshows as per an agreed calendar.
Support the business objective in building many-to-many relationships and onboard customers consistently and professionally.
Performance will be measured against agreed KPIs including but not limited to; quantity lead and opportunity generation, quote success rate, business growth, adherence to budget, new accounts developed.
Qualifications:
Honours degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Business Administration or Finance.
5 years industrial experience in operations / engineering / programme / technical management.
10 years' experience in Sales / Customer Service / Commercial Management.
The role requires an individual to have a resilient personality, who is prepared to take ownership and be accountable for the process with a positive attitude to change. Furthermore, the BDM should be self-motivated, self-managed with a positive 'can-do' attitude, patient in calmly dealing with challenges and demonstrate the thought process of a responsible leader.
This is not an exhaustive list of job duties and responsibilities required. The company will reasonably require you to perform other duties, from time to time, to meet the needs of the business.
Successful candidate must hold valid UK Driving Licence and Passport with flexibility to travel both UK and overseas whilst generating and managing new business opportunities when necessary.
38 hours per week
25 days holiday per year, plus loyalty days
