will play a critical role in identifying and delivering growth opportunities for the hospital. Working closely with clinical teams, consultants, and external stakeholders, the BDM will focus on increasing referrals, optimising service lines, and building long-term relationships with GPs, insurers, corporates, and self-pay patients.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement a business development strategy aligned with hospital growth targets.
Build and manage relationships with consultants, ensuring alignment with hospital services and capacity.
Identify and develop new service lines, specialties, or patient pathways to meet local demand.
Grow self-pay and insured patient volumes through marketing campaigns, outreach, and referral network development.
Engage and build partnerships with local GPs, corporate clients, embassies, and insurers to drive referrals.
Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and patient feedback to identify commercial opportunities.
Collaborate with the marketing team to plan and deliver promotional campaigns, GP events, open days, and digital content.
Track KPIs and produce regular reports on activity, pipeline, conversion, and ROI.
Support contract negotiation and service proposals with corporate and third-party partners.
Represent the hospital at external events and professional networking opportunities.
Requirements
Essential:
Proven experience in business development, commercial management, or healthcare sales--ideally within private healthcare, medical services, or hospitals.
Strong understanding of the UK private healthcare market and referral dynamics.
Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactical plans and meet revenue targets.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing and presenting.
Proficient in CRM systems, data analysis, and business reporting tools.
Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
Desirable:
Background in healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or related industries.
Experience working with consultants and clinical teams.
Degree in business, marketing, healthcare management, or a related field.
Knowledge of Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and private hospital operations.
