About Mercian Weldcraft
Since 1958, we've been crafting precision steel structures for the UK's most complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects. From our 23,000 sq ft facility in Aldridge, we deliver bespoke fabrication for bridges, formwork, renewable energy installations, and major construction projects. Recently becoming an EOT Business, were now looking to grow our market and looking for an ambitious and self-motivated person to create business growth.
The Role: Marketing-Led Business Growth
This is a marketing-first role with business development responsibilities. You'll be the architect of our digital transformation and the voice of our brand creating content, building campaigns, and generating the leads that fuel our growth.
Your primary focus (70%): Marketing & Digital Content Creation
Your secondary focus (30%): Lead Generation & New Business Pursuit
You'll work closely with our senior leadership team, who will assist in the technical capabilities we can offer and provide, and we are looking someone to fulfil the role of how we demonstrate this to our target audience.
Role
Marketing & Digital Content (Your Core Focus)
Build Our Digital Presence
Lead the development and launch of a new, SEO-optimised website showcasing our capabilities, projects, and accreditations, working with an external agency to create the website.
Create and execute content strategies across LinkedIn (primary), YouTube, and industry platforms
Write compelling case studies, articles, and project stories that demonstrate technical authority, with assistance from design team and technical teams.
Produce and coordinate high-quality visual content (photography, video, graphics) featuring our facility, projects, and people
Drive Visibility & Engagement
Manage SEO campaigns
Run targeted Ads
Develop monthly content calendars and email marketing campaigns
Position us as thought leaders through engineering insights and sustainability content
Track performance metrics
Brand Development
Implement our refreshed brand identity across all touchpoints (digital, print, presentations)
Develop professional marketing content
Communicate our accreditation journey
Humanise our Employee Ownership Trust story to attract clients and talent.
Business Development & Lead Generation
Generate Quality Opportunities
Implement and manage CRM system to track leads, pipeline, and conversions
Identify high-value prospects in civil engineering, infrastructure, renewables, and modular construction sectors
Use tools like to find relevant tenders and projects
Conduct targeted outreach to Tier 1/2 contractors, engineers, and procurement managers
Convert Awareness into Revenue
Qualify inbound leads and nurture them through structured sales funnels
Support tender submissions with compelling commercial narratives and case studies
Represent Mercian Weldcraft at trade shows (UK Construction Week, Infrastructure Expo, etc.)
Build relationships with industry bodies (BCSA, Made in the Midlands)
Coordinate post-event follow-up and lead conversion protocols
Client Relationship Management
Maintain regular contact with existing clients through newsletters and account updates
Gather testimonials and project feedback for marketing use
Support strategic account reviews and retention initiatives
What We're Looking For:
Essential
Proven B2B marketing experience
(ideally in manufacturing, construction, engineering, or industrial sectors)
Digital marketing expertise
-- SEO, Google Ads, LinkedIn campaigns, website management
Content creation skills
-- you can write compelling copy, brief designers, and coordinate video production
CRM proficiency
(HubSpot, Zoho, or similar platforms)
Lead generation experience
-- you understand how to turn marketing activity into sales opportunities
Data-driven mindset
-- comfortable with Google Analytics, conversion tracking, and performance reporting
Self-starter mentality
-- this role requires building systems from scratch with autonomy and accountability
Highly Desirable
Experience marketing technical products or services
Knowledge of tender/bid processes or public sector procurement
Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 9001, etc.) and how to leverage them commercially
Understanding of sustainability/ESG in construction/manufacturing.
