The Sales Assistant will focus on lead generation and telesales, while also supporting the day-to-day running of sales and operations. You'll work directly with the owner to help track job progress, follow up with suppliers, and ensure customer orders are on schedule. This is a varied role in a small business where flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to get stuck in are key. You'll also spend time working independently in the office, so being self-motivated and disciplined is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Generate and qualify sales leads through telesales and online research
Conduct outbound calls and email campaigns to prospective customers
Log and manage leads, opportunities, and customer data in the CRM
Support order follow-ups with suppliers and keep track of delivery timelines
Help ensure customer orders are progressing smoothly and on schedule
Assist in preparing quotes, sending confirmations, and processing sales orders
Collaborate with the Managing Director and Technical Manager on ongoing projects
Provide general support across the business where needed, including admin and logistics
Work independently in the office, managing tasks without direct supervision
Contribute ideas for improving processes, communications, and efficiency
Required Skills and Experience:
Some experience in sales, telesales, or customer service (B2B preferred)
Confident communicator on the phone and via email
Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at once
Self-motivated and disciplined when working alone
Willing to take initiative and step outside of your job title when needed
Comfortable using basic office software and CRM systems
Proactive, dependable, and eager to contribute in a small team environment
Desirable:
Familiarity with manufacturing or technical sales environments
Interest in engineering, production, or technical products
