Job Description


Our Business Manager supports our CAO and General Counsel both strategically and administratively. You will support the CAO and Legal function with managing workload, strategic planning and representing them in their absence to drive successful outcomes. How will you do this? Joining our legal team, you will support the CAO, through a range of strategically focussed activities and initiatives including; contract management - drafting and reviewing confidentiality agreements, reviewing simple terms and conditions as per the department standard processes, assisting solicitors with various contracts required for projects and maintaining and updating the contracts, templates, drafting contract summaries. You will take ownership for the efficient management of the legal admin which will include; ensuring compliance with the already established contract sign off process; ensuring that legal input and review of papers for board, committee and governance forums is provided and that papers are prepared and reviewed in advance of meetings; review of minutes and actions ensuring that follow up actions arising from meetings are addressed and completed and liaising with team members and colleagues to complete these. You will be responsible for maintaining a record of all legal and internal audit spend and drafting monthly accrual email to finance, processing all invoices received for legal, checking no unauthorised legal spend and maintaining a record of the current legal panel, agreements with same and contact details. As a standard you will actively support and encourage at all times, compliance with our quality principles, company policies and best practice in security, legal and regulatory requirements. A natural communicator, you will be able to lead, organise and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organisation whilst developing strong relationships with key contacts and line reports of the CAO to ensure awareness of key areas of focus. You will be the sounding board for any issues which may need escalation and ensure the CAO are informed as appropriate. Time efficient and with the ability to prioritise you will act autonomously and take the initiative when required to complete the task in hand. You will work in collaboration with the Executive Assistant to ensure CAO\xe2\x80\x99s time is optimised and effective. You will be able to assimilate information quickly, you can also synthesise, summarise, and filter complex information in order to pick out and present key information. Proactive and agile in your approach you will be responding to significant information requests or similar demands and co-ordinating appropriate replies. Key skills and attributes required are:

  • Extensive experience of working in similar role
  • Ability to work with minimal guidance \xe2\x80\x93 a curious and solution focused self-starter
  • Ability to resolve complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist with appropriate authorisation
  • Confidence to collaborate and challenge\' stakeholders where necessary
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills
  • Tenacity and proactivity \xe2\x80\x93 keen to ensure outputs are accurate, timely and of high quality.
Desirable skills required are:
  • Either a fully qualified solicitor or an individual with law degree and industry experience
