Brief Description





This role sits within

Supply Chain Operations (SCO)

, an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.


SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving - making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule. Watch our video Working in Supply Chain Operations

About the role (External)





In this role, you'll provide analytical support and insight to help drive the understanding and improvement across all of the products and services that the Supply Chain Operations (SCO) Regional Delivery Team is responsible for.


You'll provide timely and accurate performance deliverables (including reports) and maintain/improve models and tools used to understand performance, whilst delivering small business change and continuous improvement projects.

Key accountabilities include:




1. Lead the development and delivery of adhoc, weekly and periodic business information packs for the regional delivery team against multiple, defined products and services.


2. Provide statistically based forecasts of performance, as required by the team. Support the development and tracking of performance targets and trajectories.


3. Provide performance information for use in supplier relationship management meetings.


4. Analyse and identify trends and root causes in performance using appropriate analytical techniques.


5. Lead on the use of visualisation and the production of the data to facilitate it.


6. Develop and maintain performance models using LEAN tools and techniques that enhance understanding of performance metrics and the relationships that exist between them.


7. Work with the wider Supply Chain Operations (SCO) team so that the content of reports are fit for purpose and are aligned to wider SCO and Route Services' reports.


8. Deliver, as directed, specific small improvement projects.


9. Be the day to day central focus for performance improvement procedures and processes for the team.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following criteria:



Essential



Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong research and analysis skills. Demonstrable experience in analytical thinking with numerate and conceptual analysis capability. Competent in statistical forecasting techniques. Strong data analysis skills (preferably Business Objects/NROL). Flair for problem solving (proven record of successful innovation and creativity). Competent user of EXCEL and PowerPoint. Demonstrable application of continuous improvement techniques e.g. LEAN.

Desirable



Ability to describe complex statistical relationships in a meaningful way. Understanding of performance data systems. Understanding of SCO delivery.

Vacancy type:

This role is a 9 month secondment with thepotential to extend or become permanent (unless a suitable redeployee is identified).

Location:

This position can be based at The Quadrant: Milton Keynes or Baskerville House, Birmingham.

Hours:

35 hours per week with hybrid working with a minimum 3 days per week in the office, and travel as required.

Salary range:

35,582 - 42,218 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
