What is the job role?

We are looking for a Business Systems and User Development Lead to join our fast-paced Business Systems (Children's) Team. This position is a 12-month fixed term contract or secondment. If you are an internal employee looking to secure this post as a secondment, please ensure you speak to your current line manager prior to applying.


You will lead on the development and re-configuration of our case management systems and processes to support the Families First Partnership Programme, the government's children's social care reforms. You will also support the development, co-ordination and delivery of training to our system users.


This role involves working closely with internal colleagues across Children's Services, Digital Services (ICT) and Performance and will deputise for the Business Systems Manager. You will also work closely with external stakeholders such as our software supplier and the Department of Education. You will provide expert support to the users of our main business systems to ensure good quality and timely record-keeping and effective use of corporate financial and physical resources.


Children's Services in Coventry has been judged Good by OFSTED and the work undertaken by the team supports this and will continue to support our journey to be an Outstanding Local Authority. The team is based at One Friargate.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).


Who are we looking for?

Someone who can:

Lead Business Systems functions including support desk, projects and direct the activities and priorities of staff to meet varied and multiple objectives within identified timescales. Plan the development and extension of case management system use across Children's Services to ensure that use of unsupported systems is minimised, and data is appropriately managed. Work in close collaboration with Digital Services (ICT) to ensure business cases are made, plans created, and changes delivered to time. Facilitate collaborative working with key stakeholders and lead practice-based meetings to ensure that system developments promote good practice and service managers are provided with advice and guidance to enable the systems to be used to their full potential in accordance with the relevant policies. Explain processes to non-technical colleagues, contributing to learning across our service and enabling us to achieve good outcomes for our children and young people.
