John Scott Meat delivers quality meat to all our customers from food service to retail throughout Scotland and the South East of England. They both pride, and stand by the quality of all their products. Sandyford Abattoir is also part of the business on site which allows John Scott Meat to have complete control of its product from farm to customer.

We are currently seeking a Butcher to join the team. This crucial role in our meat processing operation will contribute to our goal of producing the finest beef and lamb.

Job summary

Primary responsibilities (but not limited to):

Full carcass butchery of lambs; Operating butchery equipment such as mincer, burger/sausage machines; Packing, weighing and labelling meat; Further processing of beef primal cuts into steaks, stew, joints etc; Maximising yields of the products whilst minimising waste; Adhering to health and safety regulations; Collaborating with other production staff to ensure targets met.

Your profile

The ideal candidate will:

Be able to work in a fast paced environment; Be experienced preparing carcases to specification; Have experience in a busy meat packing environment; Be physically fit; Be prepared to work in a cold environment; Have a high level of personal hygiene; Have excellent organisational skills; Be a team player with an ability to think creatively.

Job Details

Working schedule is Monday to Friday from 06.00 to 14.30;

YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BE ONSITE READY TO START AT 06.00;

Permanent position for 40 hours a week; 29 days annual leave inclusive of statutory holidays; Excellent rates of pay offered; Rate of pay dependent on experience; Overtime will be required occasionally;
