We're now looking for an experienced
Buyer
to join our team and help us manage our supply chain effectively as we continue to grow.
About the Role
As a
Buyer
, you'll play a key part in ensuring materials and components are sourced on time, within budget, and to the right specification.
You'll work closely with sales, production, engineering, and finance teams to keep operations running smoothly.
Key responsibilities:
Source and purchase materials, components, and subcontract services.
Negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Raise and manage purchase orders using our ERP/MRP system.
Monitor stock levels and support production scheduling.
Identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities.
Resolve supplier or delivery issues quickly and professionally.
Support new product development with sourcing of new materials.
Provide cover for logistics and shipping as needed.
About You
You'll be an organised, proactive person who enjoys working in a hands-on SME environment where every day brings new challenges.
Essential skills and experience:
Previous experience as a Buyer or Purchasing Assistant in an engineering or manufacturing company. (3 years minimum)
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Pro-active and lateral thinking
Demonstratable organisation skills
Confident using ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
Desirable:
CIPS qualification (or studying towards).
Experience in lean or continuous improvement environments.
Experience of engineering and manufacturing businesses
