Job Opportunity: Buyer (Fixed Term Contract)

Buyer

to join our team on a

Fixed Term Contract

to help shape our product offering and deliver exceptional results.


What You'll Be Doing:




Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers, supporting a wide range of projects--from urgent repairs to planned works. Managing end-to-end buying for your business area, placing orders for materials, plant and services. From building materials and trade supplies to PPE and specialist maintenance equipment, you'll ensure a continuous and cost-effective supply chain. You'll negotiate on price while meeting quality and delivery expectations and monitor supplier performance to quickly address any issues that arise. Monitoring supplier performance and making data-driven decisions.

What We're Looking For:




Proven experience in a buying role, ideally within highways & construction The ability to travel when required - mileage will be covered for your travel on these days Have literacy and numeracy skills to Level 2 or equivalent Proficiency in the use of office 365 software and buying systems (e.g. Sage, Sicon Approvals) Communicate clearly and effectively when talking to colleagues and suppliers, dealing with questions and invoice queries whether it's on the phone, Microsoft Teams or on email Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
