We are looking for a proactive Buyer / Procurement Specialist to join our busy team, ensuring that our operations are supplied with the right materials, equipment, and services at the right time. This is a key role in keeping our projects moving and maintaining our reputation for reliability and excellence.
What You'll Be Doing
Materials & Equipment Procurement
Source and purchase asphalt-related materials: aggregates, emulsions, binders, tack, additives, and fuel.
Procure parts and supplies for asphalt plants, heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, and paving crews.
Maintain strong supplier relationships and identify new vendors.
Negotiate competitive quotes, delivery terms, and contracts.
Inventory & Supply Management
Monitor inventory levels across plants, laydown yards, and storage facilities.
Forecast material needs in collaboration with plant managers and project teams.
Schedule and track deliveries to ensure uninterrupted production and jobsite operations.
Resolve delivery issues, shortages, and quality discrepancies.
Administrative & Cost Control
Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
Support budgeting and cost tracking for materials and services.
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards.
What You'll Bring
2-5+ years' experience in purchasing/procurement (construction or asphalt industry preferred).
Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment parts, and supplier networks.
Ability to read schedules, specifications, and material requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and organisational skills.
Proficiency with purchasing software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
Valid driver's license (some travel to plants and suppliers required).
Physical & Work Environment
Office-based with regular communication across plants, shops, and field teams.
Occasional site visits to asphalt plants, quarries, and equipment yards.
