Jewellery

CAD Designer

(Level 1) to support and facilitate complex Laings Bespoke, stock manufacture and service work by producing 3D models which can be used for manufacture. A key role as you will be responsible for consistently striving to build quality jewellery with integrity which can stand the test of time and be treasured for generations. Assisting 37.5 hours per week, 5 days across 6 (Monday-Saturday), our position is located in the heart of Glasgow.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



Partner closely with Jewellery Workshop teams to ensure smooth and accurate jewellery production processes. Participate and advise in manufacturing conversations to fulfil design briefs set by Jewellery Designers. Follow Laings Bespoke presentation guidelines. Build high quality 3D models which meet design and manufacturing specifications. Create CAD models for jewellery styles in line with skill level. Receive manufacture proceed instructions and ensure that all detail has been provided, feeding back to Line Managers when necessary. Provide pricing details for mounts and settings based on metal usage in line with company guidelines for the relevant party. Manage and prioritise CAD requests ensuring all models are completed in a timely fashion to ensure smooth production flows. Prepare CAD files and send them to casters. Build and maintain relationships with key manufacturing suppliers. Work with Diamond and Gemstone Setter on manufacturing needs for models to ensure security, low wastage and processing time. Catalogue all completed models for company archive and to protect company assets. Update works order to ensure accuracy of production statuses. Handle, track and measure gemstones to ensure successful manufacture using stock transfer and service order to ensure accurate location tracking. Track all work sent for casting to ensure timely delivery. Research and look for opportunities to develop skills and improvements in CAD technology and processes.

Person Specification:



Hold a formal qualification or proven experience using CAD Software Technology for jewellery manufacture. Proven experience with 3D modelling software and a passion for different jewellery styles. Familiar with working with a wide array of gemstones and fine metals along with experience in stone measuring and weighing. Custom Stone Building in 3D modelling software. Knowledge of necklet and bracelet forming with necessary dimensions and pave stone mapping. Ornate and decorative metal work. Experience with 3D printing, curing and preparation of models. Ability to create single and multi-row cluster jewellery and settings along with asymmetric cluster rings. Ability to create full hoop eternity rings, drop earrings and pendants. Understanding of all standard setting styles, manufacturing tolerances and gemstones needs in terms of jewellery manufacture. Create settings and components in 3D modelling software along with re-create original jewellery in 3D modelling software for rebuilds. Create hinged Jewellery, line bracelets and earrings in 3D modelling software. Sound IT skills including working knowledge of Microsoft programmes, namely excel, outlook. A positive team worker with exceptional attention to detail and organisation skills.
