The Role
As part of our growth, we are looking for an Junior CAD Designer / CAD Designer , with experience in luxury upholstered furniture and/or bespoke high-end cabinetry, to join our dynamic team.
Working on an exciting mix of bespoke furniture projects in Solidworks, you will liaise with Sales, Production and Workshop teams.
The role will involve interpreting our client technical drawings/concept sketches/inspirational images/ and turning these into furniture line drawings for our clients; interior designers/architects to approve.
The role also involves producing production drawings for upholstered furniture and cabinetry. These production drawings detail how to construct the wooden frame, spring/foam layers ect, as well as 1:1 scaled templates, which are given to our in-house workshop staff to manufacture directly. You will also liaise with with the workshop staff directly to assist with any technical CAD queries.
These manufacturing drawings, also includes any bespoke component's such as metal framework and the how this metal is built into structure of the furniture item. The metalwork technical drawings are also provided to suppliers to produce the component.
You must have CAD experience within directly manufacturing bespoke high-end furniture from initial concept through to finished production in a workshop environment. A clear understanding of how upholstered furniture and cabinetry is constructed is essential, however training can be provided.
This is not a Interior designer or Architect position.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
Design and develop line drawings of bespoke upholstered furniture and cabinetry using Solidworks.
Create full working production drawing packs and templates, clearly noting all details for all departments involved in the manufacturing cycle.
Produce and manage efficient, costs effective manufacturing specification.
Liaise with sales and production providing creative and technical advice where necessary.
Capable of managing your own workloads with a hands-on approach to all aspects of the role.
Implementation of good housekeeping.
Some site surveys may be required.
Skills & Experience
Hold a degree or equivalent in Furniture Technical design or portfolio to work.
Highly experienced in Solidworks, AutoCAD
Confident and experienced in producing clear professional manufacturing drawings.
Sound knowledge of upholstered furniture and hard case manufacturing is required.
Demonstrate detailed knowledge and experience of bespoke upholstery and luxury furniture production.
Good problem solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communicator, with a high level of numeracy and literacy in English.
Excellent time keeping and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously, both individually and as part of a team.
Must have experience:
SolidWorks: 1-3 years (required)
Upholstered or Bespoke Cabinetry Direct Manufacturing: 1-3 years (required)
