ECSL is recruiting a CAD Manager to provide expert technical drawing and documentation support for our water and wastewater treatment projects. In this role, you will lead our Derby-based CAD team and take primary responsibility for converting engineering concepts into accurate, detailed drawings that underpin successful project delivery. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure all outputs meet industry standards and client expectations, while also offering direction, support, and mentorship to junior team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will focus on advanced technical drafting, document control, and drawing updates for water infrastructure projects. You'll ensure that designs are accurately represented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle providing expertise and oversight. Key responsibilities will include:
Lead, manage, and develop the Derby-based CAD team, ensuring high-quality outputs, efficient workflows, and consistent application of company standards.
Oversee the production of all CAD drawings and technical documentation across projects, providing direction, coordination, and quality assurance.
Establish, maintain, and continuously improve CAD standards, templates, and best practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and interoperability.
Collaborate with engineering, design, and project management teams to plan workloads, allocate resources, and support successful project delivery.
Drive the adoption of new tools, technologies, and processes that improve digital delivery and align with ECSL's strategic goals.
Mentor and train junior and senior CAD staff, promoting skills development, technical excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement.
Ensure that drawing outputs meet all relevant industry standards, client specifications, and internal quality requirements.
Contribute to project planning and design coordination meetings, providing expert guidance on CAD capabilities and workflows.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
To be successful in this role, you'll need advanced technical proficiency, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage both independent work and team collaboration. Here are the key skills and competencies required:
Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate a CAD team within an engineering or construction environment.
Strong technical expertise in CAD platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or equivalent) with the ability to guide others and set best practices.
Excellent understanding of drawing standards, data management, model coordination, and digital workflows.
Skilled in developing and implementing CAD procedures, templates, and governance frameworks.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with confidence engaging across multidisciplinary teams and client interfaces.
High level of organisation, with the ability to plan workloads, manage deadlines, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement across all aspects of CAD delivery.
Ability to identify inefficiencies and drive process enhancements, technological improvements, and team capability development.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & LOCATION:
This role is based in Derby, UK, office, with flexible working arrangements available.
We offer hybrid working as standard, allowing you to balance office collaboration with remote flexibility. Occasional travel to project sites may be required to support project delivery and client engagement. You will work closely with a dynamic team of engineers, designers, and project managers across our offices, ensuring seamless project execution and technical excellence.
