Voltempo is developing rapid DC hypercharging solutions for a range of commercial vehicle sectors, initially here in the UK, but progressively internationally as the transport sector electrifies. The company holds several international patents, it is engaged in the end-to-end design, supply, site commissioning and servicing of charging solutions, targeting commercial vehicles. The business is currently scaling and is well supported by both its international shareholders and its role under the UK Government eFreight2030 programme, where it is leading a consortium of UK logistics fleet operators to deploy the UK's first eHGV charging network.

About the Role

:

This role is to undertake the mechanical and packaging design of Voltempo's charging systems. This role will be responsible for producing manufacturing designs, providing support to prototype development, testing and compliance to UK & International standards. You will be pivotal in converting electrical schematics into engineering information to support the systems manufacture, site installation and through life service support. This role will work collaboratively within the Voltempo product development team in the creation of the charging systems.

Key Work Activities

:

Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for BESS, including enclosures, racks, thermal systems, and structural supports.

Review and interpret electrical schematics and integrate mechanical solutions accordingly.

Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

Perform mechanical analysis, including thermal and structural simulations, to validate designs.

Support the development and maintenance of bills of materials (BOM), CAD models, and detailed drawings.

Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.

Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis (FMEA).

Assist with prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting in lab or field environments.

Maintain documentation and support the product lifecycle from concept through production.

Using electrical AC & DC schematics to develop 2D drawings and 3D models together with assembly information whilst working alongside Voltempo's Manufacturing and Test Technicians, and key suppliers supporting the assembly and validation of the first of a kind systems.

What credential are we ideally looking for

:

Proficient in Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD platforms under a Vault environment, developing and utilising Material Libraries, iPart & iAssembly, BoM Structure workflow, stage build models. Working knowledge of simulation tools such as Ansys for thermal and mechanical stress analysis would be advantageous, strong communication and project management skills.

Degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, membership of a Professional Engineering society is a plus.

Impressive track record and skills acquired from working in or with an electrical network connected product supplier bringing new innovations to market. Experience of working in a SME would be desirable, highly collaborative, able to support the execution of technology - product development roadmaps, and a keen interest in areas of low carbon energy technology and services, must be numerate with a strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

Preferred Skills



Experience in renewable energy or power electronics.

Knowledge of safety requirements and best practices in high-voltage systems.

Experience with PLM systems and engineering change processes.

Exposure to lithium-ion battery technologies or similar energy storage solutions.
