BakerHicks has grown rapidly in the Transmission & Distribution sector over the last ten years and has successfully secured several key projects within the UK. As demand for exceptional engineering design continues to grow, we have an opportunity for a

CAD Technician

to join our London office.



The CAD Technician will report to the Office Lead - Power and will be responsible for producing drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and other design tools. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in the transmission and distribution sector and a sound understanding of High Voltage (HV) Underground Cables, Overhead Lines (OHL), and Substations. Strong communication skills and a proactive, team-oriented approach are essential.

Responsibilities




Produce schematics, models, general arrangement, and detailed drawings for electrical Transmission & Distribution projects. Update and modify drawings in line with client standards and procedures. Generate accurate drawings from survey/redline information. Work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment to deliver holistic design solutions. Ensure accuracy and compliance with CAD standards and maintain thorough documentation. Support junior technicians in their development. Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and budget constraints.

Technical Skills and Experience




Strong understanding of technical standards and regulatory requirements for data management. High proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and 3D. Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit, Civils 3D, or Bentley Microstation (advantageous). Previous CAD experience in HV transmission and distribution, underground cables, OHLs, substations, or related sectors. Proven experience in HV Underground Cables, Substation Equipment, and/or OHL Draughting. The minimum required qualification is HNC/ D level. Ideally, you will have achieved EngTech MIET or MICE status, or will be working towards that.
