Purpose of the Position:



Soane Bespoke is a consultative service offered to clients who wish to realise individual commissions that draw on Soane Britain's design expertise. Custom and bespoke orders make up a significant proportion of our revenue.

The primary role of the CAD Technician is to support the Product Team with managing the bespoke design projects. This will involve working closely with the Sales Operations team to develop the brief, generate quotations, and provide technical support. Using Solidworks to model these designs and produce drawings to the appropriate level of detailing for client approval and ensuring drawings are accurate for manufacture. This will require close collaboration with our workshops, taking drawings from concept through to construction, ensuring they are consistent, accurate, current, effectively communicated and meet the demands of the budget.

In addition to the bespoke designs there will be involvement in the current design back catalogue and product improvements. Support will also be required in the delivery of new design drawings to help meet the critical path of our twice-yearly launches.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Working to briefs taken from our sales team, identify and understand their customer needs and maintain the flow of the project information, providing detailed quotations where possible within deadlines.

Work with Manufacturing team on the quotation and production of bespoke designs.

Ensure any installation guides needed for bespoke items are created to brand guidelines.

To provide technical support to colleagues.

Maintain bespoke training resources and guidelines.

Ensuring all Soane designs have complete technical drawing packages for each product, including installation guides and lighting BOMs, working through the back catalogue and ad-hoc drawing change requests in accordance with the company's standards.

Checking approved prototypes against technical manufacturing drawings of all furniture and lighting and ensuring the drawings are produced to the highest accuracy, against a master model where possible.

Awareness of business sustainability goals to ensure they are considered throughout every process.

Qualifications for the Position:



Must have a minimum of 1 year professional experience.

Must be proficient in SolidWorks; with confidence in using features like 3D sketches, revolved sketches, weldments and surface modelling.

You will have experience using the Adobe Suite, mainly InDesign and Acrobat Pro

You will have a technical and commercial understanding of furniture and/or lighting construction, materials and techniques for effective manufacture

You will have strong collaborative skills and be a confident and capable communicator You will be able to work to deadlines with strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills You will possess a keen eye for detail, with an appreciation for the highest quality craftsmanship and materials
