CAD TECHNICIAN

Lopen Joinery is a small team of highly skilled designers and cabinet makers based in rural Somerset. We are leading specialists in bespoke fitted and free-standing joinery for the high-end residential industry. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional craftsmanship and precision, working with clients, architects, and designers to create outstanding luxury interiors.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented

CAD Technician

to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software. Ideally you will have experience of working in a high-end residential joinery environment and have an ability to read working drawings. You will work closely with designers, architects, and project managers, the CAD Technician will support the design and development process from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce 2D drawings and models using AutoCAD, Revise and update existing drawings based on client changes, feedback, and site data Collaborate with design teams, builders & internal production team to interpret project specifications, concepts & manufacturability Ensure that all drawings adhere to industry and company standards Maintain and organize CAD files and documentation in accordance with company practices Conduct quality checks and verify the accuracy and completeness of drawings Assist with site surveys, measurements, and data collection as required Provide technical support to project teams and contribute to design solutions
Requirements:

Proven experience as a CAD Technician, Draftsperson, or similar role Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD Strong understanding of construction and manufacturing design principles Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with precision Good communication and collaboration skills Ability to interpret technical drawings, and specifications Skilled in Microsoft Office for emailing communication as well as Teams, Excel and word.
Desirable:

3D modelling experience

CNC programming understanding & experience

Experience of producing cutting lists for manufacture

Practical joinery experience

Familiar with Project Management, CRM software

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant qualification in CAD, furniture design, joinery, architecture, or related field
