CAD Technician

Head of Group Projects - Design & Development

HOURS OF WORK:

08:00am - 17:00pm, Monday - Friday

1 hour lunch break

JOB OVERVIEW:

MEL Aviation Ltd is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician with a strong interest in Engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer-aided design and be proficient in various CAD software applications, specifically SOLIDWORKS. As a CAD technician, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality technical drawings and schematics that support our engineering and design projects.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Create and modify detailed technical drawings and schematics using SOLIDWORKS. Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand project requirements and specifications. Ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards in all drawings produced. Conduct quality checks on designs to identify any discrepancies or errors. Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including specifications and reports. Maintain an organised library of CAD files, change notes and project documentation for easy access by team members. Stay updated on the latest CAD technologies and best practices to enhance productivity.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

3D CAD Skills must include SOLIDWORKS. Exceptional computer literacy, with enhanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages. Formal engineering background, preferably with electro-mechanical bias. Recognised engineering apprenticeship and / or college ONC/HNC/HND/ or university qualification.

Strong communication skills, be computer literate and technically minded with the desire to learn from experienced colleagues. Planning and organising with ability to work to strict deadlines. Excellent team worker. Ability and self-discipline to work alone effectively. Positive approach to production support and customer service. Highly driven and self motivated. Maintain a professional attitude, keeping calm and controlled when working in demanding and pressurised environments. Adaptable and flexible in approach to change.
