Job Overview


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to support our civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality detailed technical drawings, plans, and construction details across a range of residential and mixed-use developments. This includes both substructure and superstructure elements. This role is essential in supporting the design and construction processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications. The successful applicant will have a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of engineering principles.

Duties



Develop and prepare detailed drawings and schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other CAD software. Collaborate with engineers to understand project requirements and specifications. Create 3D models to visualise design concepts. Review and modify existing drawings to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards. Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including specifications and reports. Maintain an organised library of CAD files and project documentation for easy access by team members. Participate in project meetings to discuss design changes and updates.

Essential Skills



Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D drafting essential; 3D beneficial). Strong understanding of construction principles and practices. High attention to detail Ability to create accurate schematics and technical drawings. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills. Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. A proactive approach to problem-solving within the design process. Desirable Skills

Experience working in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering environments. Familiarity with ground improvement methods (vibro stone columns, piling, ground beams, rafts). Strong understanding of residential foundation types and retaining wall details. Experience with geotechnical layout drawings, such as borehole plans, trial pits, foundation zones, tree influence zones, and gas venting systems. Knowledge of groundworks, drainage coordination, and substructure construction methods. Previous exposure to developer-led residential projects. Revit or Civil 3D experience (beneficial, not essential). Experience producing as-built drawings and redline revisions. Understanding of ground gas protection systems and venting arrangements. Familiarity with NHBC standards, British Standards codes, Eurocode 2, and relevant groundworks guidance (e.g. BRE, CIRIA). Experience with drawing coordination, layering, scaling, and model space/paper space setups.
Qualifications

ONC/HNC in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent experience). Minimum 2 years of CAD experience.

Pay: 24,500.00-30,000.00 per year
