Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality and a keen interest in food preparation, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service in a warm and welcoming environment. This role is perfect for individuals with experience in catering, serving, or barista duties, who thrive in a fast-paced cafe setting. This role is for one day per week - every Friday from 8.30am - 2.30pm. Please note, that this job is located within a Crown Court environment and you will need to pass a DBS check (provided by the company).

Duties

Assist in food preparation and presentation to ensure high-quality standards are met. Provide excellent customer service by taking orders on our POS systems, serving food and beverages. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient operation during busy periods. Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times. Support catering events and buffets as needed, contributing to the overall success of the cafe's offerings. Engage with customers to create a friendly atmosphere and encourage repeat visits. Washing up duties. Use of commercial ovens and coffee machines etc. Re-stocking fridges and confectionary counters as and when required.

Requirements

Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant environment is preferred. Strong knowledge of food safety practices is essential. Experience in catering or barista roles would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills and a confident, friendly demeanour are crucial for customer interaction. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
