Café Supervisor
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and flexible supervisor to support the manager in running our popular, busy garden centre cafe, to start asap. You must have excellent communication skills and provide first-rate customer service, be highly organised, proactive, a great team player, people manager and be willing to help out in all areas in the cafe. Barista training would be an advantage.
You will work full-time, including alternate weekends (with a weekday day off in lieu) and no evening shifts, giving a good work-life balance. On your weekend on (and on the manager's days off), you will supervise the day-to-day running of the cafe and manage the weekend or weekday staff team.
The cafe is part of our popular, independent, family-run garden centre in Ashtead.
The cafe:
Serving breakfast, speciality tea and coffee, cakes, pizza, light lunches and ice cream, the cafe has space for around 300 customers including outdoor seating. Afternoon Tea is served in our function room, which can also be booked for larger parties and events.
You:
Proven capability as a successful team leader, able to motivate staff and boost morale
Professional, organised, good time-keeper, able to work well under pressure
Hands-on flexible approach
Previous catering and front of house experience essential
Health & safety; food hygiene knowledge
Till operation and system management
Food preparation
Serving customers and clearing tables
Barista experience
Cashing up
Help out in all areas as necessary
Weekend working - every other weekend
Days:
Working 4 weekdays plus alternate weekends.
