Cafe Assistant - All-Rounder - PART TIME

Bowring Park Cafe located in Bowring Park, Wellington. Open 7 days per week serving breakfast, brunch and lunch.

We are looking for a hardworking individual to join our team. You must be flexible as the shifts will be a mixture of weekdays and weekends.

The role will require someone who can be front of house, make and plate sandwiches/breakfasts, use a coffee machine, carry out general cleaning duties, also some previous cooking experience would be desirable. Basically we're on the look out for a GREAT ALL-ROUNDER! PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE is ESSENTIAL, but If you don't have experience in certain areas then thorough training will be provided in those areas for the right candidate. What is essential however is a positive, can-do attitude and working as part of a team.

We pride ourselves on quality ingredients and making things in-house. We make all our own burgers, relishes, soups, curries, and chillies.

Customers are the heartbeat of our business therefore it is essential the successful candidate is engaging, friendly, helpful and puts customers first!

The role is anticipated to be 4-5 shifts per week, in the region of 20-28 hours with scope for more hours. Hours of work are typically 8.00am to 3.30pm with extended hours during the summer months. The shifts will also be at both our Wellington Cafes - Bowring Park Cafe located in the Bowring Park, Off Haygate Road and also at Revive Cafe located in the Wellington Leisure Centre.

PLEASE NOTE - Before applying, you must be able to get to TF1 1QX and be able to work both weekdays and weekends and be flexible as the shifts will be a mix of weekdays and weekends. This role is NOT suitable for anyone in full time education as the shifts will be a mix of weekdays and weekends.

Qualifications

Proven experience in serving and hospitality roles Strong food preparation skills with a focus on food safety Previous restaurant experience, preferably in a cafe setting Barista experience is highly desirable Knowledge of catering practices and customer service excellence Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and as part of a team

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service by welcoming and assisting patrons in a friendly manner. Prepare and serve food and beverages, ensuring adherence to food safety standards. Assist in food preparation and catering tasks as needed. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cafe environment. Collaborate with team members to enhance the overall dining experience. Utilize barista skills to craft high-quality coffee and specialty drinks.

Pay: 12.21-13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 28 per week
