Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our vibrant team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service while assisting in the daily operations of our cafe. This position requires a passion for hospitality and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.

This role involves working weekend and weekday hours.

Duties

Provide excellent customer service by welcoming and serving customers with a friendly attitude. Assist in food preparation, ensuring all items are prepared according to health and safety regulations. Support catering activities, including setting up and serving food for events as required. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment. Operate coffee machines and prepare beverages, utilising barista skills when necessary. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth cafe operations during busy periods. Handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed.

Skills

Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant environment is highly desirable. Strong hospitality skills with the ability to engage positively with customers. Knowledge of food safety standards and practices is essential. Experience in catering services is an advantage. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated. Barista experience is beneficial for preparing high-quality beverages. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and colleagues effectively.
