Job Description

Please be aware that this is a bank role, similar to a zero hours contract, and therefore there will not be a guaranteed number of weekly hours, and working times may differ from week to week.

Our cafe assistants will be dedicated to providing excellent hospitality to our customers as part of our mixed ability team, in our fast-paced cafe showing exceptional customer service, a good level of fitness to service our multiple areas and also enjoy developing barista skills for our exceptional coffee offering.

This role will be based at Taurus Crafts in Lydney.

Duties & Responsibilities



Main responsibilities



Be committed to a high standard of customer service and presentation. Greet new customers appropriately, answer any queries they may have and take an accurate record of their orders. Be a helpful and supportive team member particularly to people on work experience or training placements in the restaurant. Assemble customer orders always ensuring food hygiene and health & safety requirements are followed and comply with portion and presentation guidance. Provide customers with their food, beverages & cutlery and check that they are happy with their order. Ensure correct procedures are followed in the handling of payments. Maintain a clean and smart appearance personally and with the cafe under the guidelines set by the Line Manager. Undertake any other duties that may be required for the effective operation of the cafe. To assist in the kitchen with pot washing and ensure all crockery and utensils are clean and stored appropriately. To assist in cleaning where required, utilising a "clean as you go" philosophy following food hygiene and health & safety requirements. To show willing and flexibility covering additional shifts wherever possible. To comply with the Trust's policies and procedures, including safeguarding, equality & diversity and data protection. To comply with the statutory provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Employees must look after their own health, safety and welfare and be mindful of other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Employees must co-operate and comply with management instructions regarding Health and Safety issues and report all accidents, incidents and problems as soon as practicable to their manager or other senior members of staff where necessary. To ensure that confidentiality is respected and maintained at all times. To attend and participate in Team Meetings, 1-2-1 Supervision sessions and other meetings as required in line with the post. To undertake any other duties which are consistent with this post, as directed by line management. Person Specification



Qualifications



Good standard level of education (GCSE in Maths & English) - essential.

Knowledge & Experience



Good numeracy and literacy skills - essential. Computer literacy - desirable. Barista experience - desirable. Customer service experience - desirable. Hospitality experience - desirable.
