Overview

We are seeking a friendly and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our parlour in St. Ives for the autumn and winter. The ideal candidate will be friendly with customers and use their initiative to ensure the cafe runs smoothly.

Shifts between 2-3 per week with the possibility of more.

Responsibilities

Assist in simple food preparation and ensure that all food safety standards are adhered to. Taking orders and answering queries about menu items. Serve coffee and other hot drinks. Scoop ice cream and top up stock when needed. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure efficient service during busy periods. Handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly. Assist with stock management, including receiving deliveries and monitoring inventory levels. Be friendly!

Requirements

Previous experience in a cafe or restaurant environment is advantageous. Barrista trained is a benefit but we will happily go over our espresso machine with you. A strong understanding of food safety practices is required. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage positively with customers. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed. A genuine passion for hospitality and providing exceptional service.
