Job Overview

We are looking for a new full time member to join our small team at Cafe at No.12. A small but busy cafe on the outer skirts of York. We are looking for someone who is wanting full time hours, with evenings off and free for yourself! The shifts would be 7am or 8am starts with 3.30pm finishes, 4/5 days a week with mid-week days off.

We are looking for a friendly, confident individual with prior experience working in a cafe environment. Someone who has had previous experience in managing individuals and barista skills would be a bonus!

The job role will include cooking the menu, managing the small team, making coffees, serving customers. We are looking for a responsible individual who has great time management, multi-tasking ability and genuine interest and love of baking/cooking and coffee!

Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items are prepared according to safety and quality standards. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including dining spaces and kitchen equipment. Provide exceptional customer service by taking orders, serving food and beverages, and addressing customer inquiries. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices. Manage time effectively to ensure timely service during peak hours. Perform basic maths calculations for order processing and inventory management. Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers.

Requirements

Previous experience in a cafe/ chef of at least one year. Strong understanding of food safety practices is essential. Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Basic maths skills for handling transactions and inventory counts. A friendly disposition with a willingness to help customers and colleagues alike. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
