Job Description

You'll support the Cafe Manager in overseeing the day?to?day operations. Your role will involve supervising staff and volunteers, ensuring a high level of customer service, maintaining food safety standards, ensuring a consistent high standard of product, managing inventory and acting as the manager's deputy when needed.

To support in the design and delivery of individualized support and training programmes for individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, or developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will support volunteers of all abilities and help them be inclusive in the business.

This position requires you to hold or obtain a PVG.

Key Responsibilities



Lead, coach and motivate cafe team Schedule staff and volunteers, manage shift rotas, and oversee attendance/sick cover Ensure efficient and welcoming service--greet customers, monitor service flow, resolve complaints Support in food & beverage preparation as needed (barista duties, light food service) Execute opening and closing procedures reliably Monitor food safety protocols, HACCP/ServSafe standards Manage cleaning schedules, temperature logs, and general hygiene records Ensure safe working environment for staff, volunteers and customers Order supplies, manage deliveries, maintain stock levels and rotation Manage cash handling, till reconciliation, and daily financial reporting Work with Manager to meet revenue and cost?control targets Act as deputy in Manager's absence--taking responsibility for staff decisions, customer satisfaction, and operational continuity Implement training programs based on individual assessments and developmental needs Work with local schools delivering work placements and training. As part of our training programmes support individuals with learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum condition in areas such as communication, social interaction, academic, and vocational skills Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, teachers, families, and caregivers Track and document progress through regular reports, assessments, and updates Modify teaching strategies and materials to suit each learner's abilities and goals Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment Attend the required relevant courses and continue with self development.

Required Qualifications & Skills



Experience: Minimum 2-3?years in cafe or hospitality; at least 1-2?years in a supervisory or senior role Food Safety: Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate; HACCP knowledge desirable Leadership: Strong people?management, team-building and delegation skills Customer service: Confident engaging with guests, resolving complaints with professionalism Operations: Proficient with POS systems, scheduling, basic financial reporting and stock control Personal traits: Organised, proactive, flexible, calm under pressure, detail-oriented Strong understanding of developmental disorders, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Patience, empathy, and a positive, solution-oriented mindset Ability to manage challenging behaviors professionally and calmly A current PVG member

Preferred Attributes



Barista training or good knowledge of coffee equipment and brew standards Experience coordinating community engagement or local events Previous experience in retail, events, or multi-functional cafe environments

Pay: 12.21-14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 21 per week
