Does the prospect of rearing calves on a large, grass-based dairy farm on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast appeal to you?

If so, we are offering a three-month work placement for a Calf Rearer at our dedicated rearing site.

You will be part of a team responsible for the day-to-day care of our dairy and beef calves, ensuring the highest standards of animal health, welfare, and husbandry are maintained at all times.

This position offers not only a competitive hourly rate but also an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills and gain valuable experience to progress a career in agriculture. Two of our previous interns have since progressed into management roles within the business.

Key Responsibilities

Rearing livestock in accordance with Red Tractor guidelines Maintaining the highest standards of calf health and welfare Feeding and bedding all groups of calves Training calves to use multi-point teat feeders Monitoring and recording calf health, feed intakes, and growth Treating calves where appropriate and reporting health concerns Assisting with vaccination programmes, disbudding, and TB testing Monitoring and reporting feed and medicine stock levels Overseeing the weaning process Telehandler work as required
The Ideal Candidate

Keen to learn and progress within the agricultural industry A team player who can also work independently and use initiative A genuine interest in livestock and animal husbandry Practical, hands-on, and happy working outdoors in all weather conditions Previous livestock experience is desirable but not essential -- full training will be provided
