Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated
Environment Monitoring Systems Engineer
to combine

This hybrid role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on engineering -- including calibration, commissioning, and system servicing -- while also supporting customers through product guidance, solution design, and on-site or remote sales opportunities.
You will visit customer sites throughout the UK to perform UKAS-compliant calibrations of environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, CO?, pressure, electrical simulation, and more), carry out installations and commissioning of new monitoring systems, and provide technical support to end users.
Alongside technical duties, you will help support sales operations by identifying customer needs, recommending monitoring solutions, and assisting with product quotations or system upgrades.
Overnight stays and significant travel are part of the normal rhythm of the job.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Field Engineering
Perform UKAS-accredited calibrations of environmental and process control sensors in accordance with ISO 17025.
Install, commission, and service wireless/environmental monitoring systems and associated control equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair, and verify the performance of monitoring hardware and software.
Produce calibration certificates and service documentation using Microsoft Excel.
Maintain equipment records and contribute to internal quality system procedures.
Sales Operations & Technical Support
Provide front-line technical support to customers for system operation, alarms, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Assist with product demonstrations, system walk-throughs, and feature explanations.
Identify sales opportunities during site visits (e.g., system expansions, upgrades, consumables).
Support the sales team with technical input for quotations and solution proposals.
Build strong customer relationships with a service-driven, consultative approach.
Skills & Experience (Ideal)
Experience in any combination of the following is highly desirable:
Technical Skills
On-site calibration work
Field service engineering
Installation & commissioning of process control or wireless monitoring systems
Fault-finding and repairs on instrumentation or monitoring equipment
Working within UKAS or ISO-accredited environments (ISO 17025, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001)
Sales/Customer-Facing Skills
Customer-focused technical support
Solution-based selling or identifying customer needs
Communication of technical concepts to non-technical users
IT Competency
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (required for calibration certificates)
Confident with Microsoft Word and Outlook
Comfortable learning and supporting monitoring software platforms
Qualifications
One of the following:
HNC or higher
in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Control Systems preferred)
Apprenticeship route
such as NVQ Level 5 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control, or Automation
