Your role at BRE

This role supports BRE's testing laboratories by ensuring essential equipment is accurately calibrated and available for use. As part of the Assurance Operations Department, the role plays a key part in maintaining the reliability and traceability of testing results through efficient calibration management.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Arrange calibration of equipment with third-party suppliers, including researching providers and obtaining quotes

Calibrate equipment in-house by following documented procedures, recording results, and preparing certificates (training provided)

Act as the point of contact for both internal laboratory teams and external calibration providers

Coordinate and manage the flow of equipment requiring calibration or repair, ensuring clear communication with lab teams

Assist in scheduling third-party calibration workloads and tracking progress throughout the month

Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and work meets internal service requirements

Archive technical records and calibration certificates as required

Support continuous improvement by contributing ideas and process enhancements

Provide advice and solutions on calibration and repair queries once sufficient experience is gained

Undertake other tasks to support the smooth operation of the calibration service

What we are looking for

Essential Criteria
These are the qualifications, skills, and attributes required to perform the role effectively:
Educational background in a scientific subject (ideally Physics)

Ability to confidently use technical equipment and follow procedures accurately

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

High attention to detail and accurate record keeping

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (intermediate level)

Experience using spreadsheets for data recording and analysis

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Professionalism and accountability in day-to-day tasks

Ability to make decisions on supplier selection based on cost and turnaround time (once trained)



Desirable Criteria
These are additional qualifications or experiences that would benefit the role but are not mandatory:
Hands-on experience in metrology or calibration

Experience working with laboratory testing equipment

Previous exposure to a calibration or technical service environment

Familiarity with technical documentation and archiving practices

Experience liaising with external suppliers or service providers

Work Location Options


On-Site - This role requires full-time presence at our Watford office. You must live within a commutable distance.
