We're looking for a Registered Nurse to join our friendly and innovative CAMHS West Team. We welcome applications from both newly qualified nurses (Band 5 developmental role) and experienced practitioners (Band 6). This is a community-based role and requires a valid UK driving licence, access to your own vehicle and business insurance.

Main duties, tasks & skills required

Your day-to-day will involve:

Providing specialist assessment, treatment, consultation and guidance to young people referred to CAMHS, and supporting the multidisciplinary team in their care planning and interventions. Delivering evidence-based, recovery-focused interventions tailored to the needs of children and adolescents, including those experiencing complex mental health or neurodevelopmental needs. Supporting the ongoing development of systems and care processes to enhance service delivery and ensure high standards of care are maintained. Building strong therapeutic relationships with young people and offering meaningful support and psychoeducation to their families and carers to ensure they feel informed, heard and involved throughout. Acting as a key member of the team, confidently contributing to clinical discussions, joint-working with other professionals and agencies, and advocating for holistic, person-centred care. Conducting positive risk assessments and developing robust, collaborative safety plans. (Band 6) Taking on a leadership role within the team, including providing supervision and support to junior colleagues, contributing to service development initiatives, and mentoring others in line with your experience

Job description

Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and tailored evidence-based interventions for young people referred to CAMHS. Act as a key worker for children and young people with complex needs, coordinating care and monitoring outcomes. Develop collaborative care plans with young people, families, and multi-agency partners. Use a strengths-based, recovery-oriented approach to support emotional wellbeing and resilience. Contribute to positive risk assessments and management planning, including for self-harm or suicidal ideation. Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and reflective practice sessions. (Band 6) Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and supervision to junior staff or students. Record care clearly and accurately in line with Trust and professional standards. Support service improvement initiatives, audits, and the development of care pathways. Promote safeguarding and contribute to child protection procedures as needed.

Essential



Registered Nurse with the NMC (or due to register if newly qualified). Post-Qualifying Training in Therapeutic Interventions E.g. CBT, DBT, systemic practice, or other evidence-based therapies relevant to CAMHS.

Qualification or Training in Autism Assessment E.g. ADOS, 3Di, or similar recognised assessment tools.

Experience Working with Children and Young People Evidence of collaboration with other services such as education, social care or voluntary sector. Evidence of involvement in, or awareness of, clinical risk assessment in mental health settings.

Desirable




Experience Providing Clinical Supervision or Mentorship For Band 6 applicants - evidence of supporting junior staff or students. Experience Writing Clinical Reports for Multi-Agency Use E.g. contribution to EHCPs, safeguarding reports, or formal assessments. Experience in Community or Home-Based Work
