Canine Welfare Assistant - WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY TEMPORARY for 3 MONTHS

SHAK is a dog rescue charity based to the north of Alnwick providing sanctuary and potential rehoming to dogs who would otherwise be facing the end of their lives.

An excellent opportunity has arisen in our kennels for a part time (Wednesday & Thursday), Canine Welfare Assistant.

The position is TEMPORARY for 3 MONTHS and pays the Minimum Wage, with an immediate start.

We are looking for a passionate individual committed to animal welfare and dedicated to providing exemplary care for all our dogs. The successful candidate will be hard working, flexible, a strong team player, but able to work under their own initiative, alongside our small team of staff and volunteers.

The hours are 8-4 on Wednesday and Thursday. The role requires working outside in all weathers, the ability to follow all procedures and be able to work in an emotionally and physically demanding environment. Previous experience either paid or unpaid is an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided.

Due to the location of the kennels, own transport is essential. National minimum wage applies.

Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

*Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining the hygiene and cleanliness of the kennels, exercising areas and general work areas.

*Safe handling and exercising of the dogs in a controlled manner, as directed by kennel manager.

*Providing warm, clean, sleeping areas

*Reporting any signs of illness, injury or hazard.

*Following all health and safety and kennel operating procedures.

*General housekeeping as appropriate.

*Attend any staff meetings as required.

*Any other duties required to ensure the efficient running of the kennels.
