Job Description

Jacksons is looking for a detail-oriented and skilled Canvas and Framing Technician to join our team. This role will involve stretching canvases, making frames and cutting etching plates, ensuring high-quality finished products. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent craftsmanship, and experience in working with various canvases, frames and other materials.

Key Responsibilities

:

Canvas Stretching

: Build and stretch a canvas

Frame Construction

: Construct custom frames for artwork, using wood, metal, or other materials as required.

Cutting and Fitting

: Accurately cut mat board, glass, and frame moulding to fit specific dimensions.

Assembly

: Assemble the finished frame, including fitting glass, backboards, and fastenings.

Quality Control

: Inspect completed frames and canvases for defects, ensuring they meet company standards for quality and appearance.

Inventory Management

: Maintain stock levels of canvases and stretcher bars.

Maintenance of Equipment

: Ensure that all tools and machinery (e.g., frame saws, canvas stretchers) are properly maintained and in good working condition.

Packaging & Shipping

: Carefully pack completed orders for delivery or pick-up, ensuring protection from damage during transit.

Requirements

:

Experience

: Previous experience in canvas stretching, framing, or a related field preferred.

Technical Skills

: Knowledge of various framing techniques and materials, as well as experience with hand tools and power tools used in stretching canvases and framing.

Attention to Detail

: Strong attention to detail and precision

Physical Stamina

: Ability to lift, carry, and move large pieces materials, as well as perform repetitive tasks.

Customer Service

: Excellent communication skills, particularly when dealing with customers or team members.

Problem-Solving

: Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues related to material imperfections.

Organizational Skills

: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands

:

Ability to stand for long periods. Frequent lifting and carrying of heavy materials (up to 20kg). Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for cutting and assembling.

Pay: 14.49 per hour

Expected hours: 38.33 per week
